Rosie Perez
Rosie Perez, born Rosa Maria Perez on September 6, 1964, is an American choreographer and actress. Her breakout role as Tina in Do the Right Thing (1989) was followed by White Men Can't jump (1992). Perez's portrayal of Tina in Fearless (1993) was rewarded with her nominations for the Academy Award, Best Supporting Actress as well as other awards. It Could Happen to You (1994), The Road to El Dorado ((2000), Pineapple Express (2008) and Birds of Prey (2010) are her leading parts in films.
Perez has been nominated for three Primetime Emmy Award nominations in In Living Color (1990-1994) as well as an additional Emmy nomination (2020-present) for her performance in the role of The Flight Attendant. Childhood and early life
Perez was born on September 6, 1964, in Brooklyn to Lydia Perez (a merchant mariner seaman) and Ismael Serano (a Bushwick neighborhood resident). [3][4][5] Perez's mother Lydia Fontanez and Reyes was born in Humacao (Puerto Rico) on the 13th of October 1939. Her father was from Aguadilla (Puerto Rico). Arturo Perez, her mother's husband, was twenty years older than Rosie. After having an affair with Serrano her mother was already had five children. Perez was born in the now closed Greenpoint Hospital, Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn.
Perez is among the ten kids that her mother gave birth to. Rosie as well as her siblings were raised in Bushwick and their mother was detained for indefinite times. While in prison, the mother of her child gave birth to her eldest daughter. After being cared for by her aunt, she was put in group homes and foster care. She was often isolated from her brothers. She was put in an institution for foster children, and was in foster care in New York until she reached the age of eight. She was legally considered as a ward of the State of New York from age 12 to age 12. Her mother and aunt frequently visited her, and her father tried unsuccessfully to get custody of her.
